The award recognises StoP Kreuzberg's neighbourhood work against partner violence, which strengthens solidarity, civil courage, and mutual support in the district.\n\nThe prize honours initiatives that are particularly committed to women's rights, equality, and protection from violence. The award, worth \u20ac7,000, commemorates the feminist political work of Helga Borghorst, Berlin's first Secretary of State for Women's Affairs.\n\nThe honour belongs to the many dedicated StoP activists in Kreuzberg who work together for violence-free relationships and communities. The piece was developed collaboratively over the course of a year and can be performed on request at neighbourhood centres and public spaces across Berlin. It is based on the theatre method of Augusto Boal. Audience members can actively participate and explore new courses of action. Through texts, photos, and audio recordings, the women share their stories \u2013 of life in the shelter, their experiences of starting anew, and the long journey towards self-empowerment. From their shared years, a strong community has grown that has supported and encouraged one another for over 30 years. \"With this project, we want to give other women the courage to trust themselves and raise their voice.\"<\/p><p>The first autonomous women's shelter was founded in 1976 as a feminist response to violence against women. Im Zentrum stehen 55 bestickte Stoffst\u00fccke von 22 Kreuzberger Frauen, die politische Forderungen f\u00fcr ein Leben ohne Gewalt sichtbar machen und in einem gemeinsamen Banner zusammengef\u00fchrt wurden.<br><br>Die Ausstellung verbindet k\u00fcnstlerischen Ausdruck, Aktivismus, Erinnerung und<br>Solidarit\u00e4t und eignet sich f\u00fcr Nachbarschaftsh\u00e4user, Bildungseinrichtungen und \u00f6ffentliche R\u00e4ume. Sie kann durch ein Begleitprogramm mit Gespr\u00e4chsformaten und<br>Austausch erg\u00e4nzt werden.
